Long Term Missions/Church Planter Pipeline

Long- Term Missionary/Church Planter Pipeline

Preparing to be a missionary is an exciting process and journey. This "pipeline" serves to equip those who feel called to long-term missions or church planting. We want to prepare individuals for significant change in this next season of their lives.

The pipeline process will include Biblical teaching, missionary training, and other practical ministry experiences to prepare individuals for the missions field and/or church planting.  Further steps may be involved according to each individual's long-term missions goal.

1.  Participate in a short-term missions trip

Any individual, who desires to be a long-term missionary, must first experience short-term missions to that location.  A short-term trip to the desired destination with a team will enable individuals to experience first-hand some of the spiritual, emotional, and physical aspects of life as a long-term missionary. The trip experience will also help to clarify or solidify the individual's calling for long-term missions.

2.  Attend foundational Biblical classes

We want to ensure those called for long-term missions or church-planting are equipped with foundational aspects of God's Word.

3.  Participate in Missionary Preparedness Seminars

            Seminar Information:

There will be 4 Missionary Preparedness Seminars held in 2010 to prepare those who feel called to long term missions.  Anyone is welcome to join these seminars and it is mandatory for those wanting to join the Greece long-term team.  They will be taught by Celebration staff and volunteers and will only be taught once in 2010, so an absence will result in a make up the following year.

Each seminar will cover different topics including raising financial support, culture shock, communication, and more.  The sessions will be held on Monday nights from 6pm-9pm and an official registration will be available soon.  The dates are as follows:

                                May 3

                                June 7

                                July 5

                                August 2

4.  Complete Application/interview with Missions staff

Further training may be required depending on desired missionary involvement, especially if desiring to join a Celebration international campus.  This will be discussed in the initial interview.

5.  Raise Full Support (topic to be covered in seminars)

6.  Final Interview and Approval

FAQ's:

I feel called to be a missionary but I'm not sure when and where, can I still join the missionary/church planter pipeline in 2010?  Yes, you are welcome to attend all the classes/seminars as part of your preparation.  Once you decide on when/where you will go, an interview will be set up and further training may be necessary before departure, especially if you will be working with one of Celebration's international campuses.

Why do we have to pay to go through these classes?  There are some nominal fees (an application fee and an audit fee) that Logos Educators Network requires.  We feel that it is beneficial to work with Logos for quality Bible education and know that the fees are minimal compared with other educational institutions.  We do recognize that people will be raising long term support and, therefore, we are diligently seeking to make sure any fees necessary are minimal.  Hence, the seminars will be free and materials covered in 2010.  We cannot guarantee that this will be free every year, but we will strive to make it as affordable as possible.

Are all the classes necessary to go on short term trips to Greece?  No, the classes/seminars are only to help equip those who feel called to long-term missions.  There are no prerequisites to short term missions besides completing an online application (impact.celebration.org) and paying the deposit.

I feel called to move to Greece but cannot go on the short term trip in March... can I still be a part of the long term team?  It is mandatory for anyone wanting to move to Greece to go on a short term trip first.  You will not be disqualified to join the team, however, you may not be able to move with the launch team in Fall 2010 until you take a short term trip to Greece.  Additional trips to Greece will be scheduled following the March trip.

When can I start raising support to move to Greece?  We are asking that all efforts to raise support start with the short term trip.  Following the short term trip, there will be an application/interview process for the Greece launch team and support raising can commence after that.  We encourage you to do a few things in the interim:  gather a network of givers by raising money for the short term trip, pay down any debt, set up a budget for living overseas and prepare to start the support-raising process.  The Missionary Preparedness Seminars will cover this topic to help equip future missionaries.
